Changes Are Coming To The NJ Mental Health System

The Department of Health will be overseeing substance abuse and mental health issues for the State of New Jersey. Previously it was under the purview of the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS). Governor Christie says the change will better address substance abuse issues. Opponents believe it will cause needless disruption of services. The state psychiatric institutions will experience new leadership.

It is unclear how it will pan out.

However, expect delays in the near future as the government and providers sort it out.
